What is PRINCE2?

PRINCE, otherwise known as (Projects INControlled Environments) is a structured and effective method of project management. Launched in the UK in 1996, the PRINCE2 method was actually established in 1989 by the Office of Government commerce. At this stage it was revised in consultation with users and experts in the field of project management to become the PRINCE2 that we use today.

Since its launch PRINCE2 has gone from strength to strength gaining popularity along the way. It has become the project management method of choice for many organizations and individuals seeking this kind of service both in the UK and internationally.

The sheer global popularity of PRINCE2 is validated by the vast amount of languages it has been translated into.

This popularity can be largely attributed to accreditation process used in PRINCE2, along with now easy it is to use and its flexibility in terms of application.

The use of examinations and audits means that individuals, user organizations and service providers can be accredited against standards in process due to the fact that the PRINCE2 is now regulated.

The scope of PRINCE2

PRINCE2 has many attributes that make it a worthy project management program. Controlled change and the ability to respond quickly to the market are inevitable requirements for survival. By making the delivery of projects’ outcome and monitoring and controlling the factors that have the ability to adversely impact this outcome; PRINCE2 provides the ability to deliver new products and services within a budget, to high standards of quality and on time.

Standards for the delivery of projects that have been designed to achieve programme, corporate or strategic objectives are inevitably important, in order to achieve this PRINCE2 can be used at a tactical level within the organization and it sure to be a success.
